Tohoku University, Japan offers programs for undergraduates in all subjects in semester 3 (min) and semester 6 (max) and has never participated in a scholarship program from the International Office.
Programs offered are as follows:
- Junior Year Program in English (JYPE)
This program is intended for undergraduate students in the fields of science, agriculture, engineering and computer science.
- International Program in Liberal Arts (IPLA)
This program is intended for undergraduate students in the social sciences, economics and humanities.
- Cooperative Laboratory Study Program (COLABS)
This program is aimed at master program students who are interested in conducting research in science, agriculture, health sciences and engineering.
- Direct Enrollment Education Programs (DEEP)
This program is aimed at students interested in attending lectures in Japanese along with other Japanese students
JASSO offers scholarships worth JPY 80,000 for students recommended by Tohoku University.
Students who are interested can submit an application along with supporting documents: Recommendations of the faculty, final transcripts (GPA min. 3.3 for Social Sciences and Economics and Business) and (IPK min. 3.1 for Health Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering), TOEFL ITP at least 550/ IELTS at least 6, Motivation letter and CV to the International Office at the latest on 27 October 2017.
*Students should be in their 3rd semester (min) and 6th semester (max) by the time of the application
**Note: Students who have participated/enrolled to any scholarship program from International Office UI are NOT eligible
