On October 4th, there was a Public Lecture at Universitas Indonesia by H. E. Ms Helene Hellmark Knutsson, Swedish Minister for Higher Education and Research on Higher Education and Research as a Basis for Economic Growth – A Swedish Experience at Apung Meeting Room, Central Library, Universitas Indonesia.
A delegation of six rectors from some of Sweden’s most renowned Universities has joined Minister Hellmark Knutsson’s visit to Indonesia. The delegations were H. E. Ms. Johanna Brismar Skoog, Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia, Professor Sigbritt Karlsson, President of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Professor Helen Dannetun, Vice-Chancellor of Linköping University, Professor Lars Strannegård, President of Stockholm School of Economics, Professor Ylva Fältholm, Vice-Chancellor of University of Gävle, Ms. Ann Fust, Deputy Director General of the Swedish Research Council, Professor Karin Dahlman-Wright, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Karolinska Institutet, Professor Stacey Ristinmaa Sörensen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Lund University, Ms Anna-Lena Paulsson, Head of International Relations Unit at Karolinska Institutet, Ms Maria Engelmark, Director of International Affairs, Head of Division, at Linköping University, Mr Richard Stenelo, International Director at Lund University, Mr Rolf Höijer, Senior Advisor, Division for Research Policy, Ministry of Education and Research, PhD, Ms Malin Petersen, Desk Officer, Secretariat for Policy Analysis and International Affairs, Ministry of Education and Research, Mr Martin O. Many of them have already established cooperations with Indonesian counterparts.

Minister Helene explained on how excellence in higher education and research is a core component to a competitive and innovative economy and encourage the cooperation among Swedish universities and UI to collaborate in various aspects of strategic interests including in renewable energy, global health as well as entrepreneurship.
