Tohoku University, Japan International Program in Liberal Arts (IPLA)

Tohoku University, Japan offers an International Program in Liberal Arts (IPLA) for undergraduates and graduates in the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Economics and Business
  • Faculty of Humanities
  • Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
  • Faculty of Psychology
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Administration

in semester 3 (min) and has never participated in any program from the International Office.

 

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY

For undergraduate students:

  • A student with active status
  • Students should be, minimum, in their 3rd semester at UI, at the time of application
  • Have not completed 144 credits at UI (including credits on the last semester at UI before departing for exchange) by the time of the application
  • Mandatory to transfer credits from exchange period to UI
  • Will not graduate from UI, until the exchange period is completed
  • GPA minimum of 3.2 (all major)
  • TOEFL/IELTS:
    • PBT at least 550
    • ITP  at least 550
    • iBT at least 80
    • IELTS at least 6.0

For graduate students:

  • A student with active status
  • Students should be, minimum, in their 2nd semester at UI, at the time of application
  • Have not completed 40 credits at UI (including credits on the last semester at UI before departing for exchange) by the time of the application
  • Mandatory to transfer credits from exchange period to UI
  • Will not graduate from UI, until the exchange period is completed
  • GPA minimum of 3.2 (all major)
  • TOEFL/IELTS:
    • PBT at least 550
    • ITP  at least 550
    • iBT at least 80
    • IELTS at least 6.0

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
If the host university has higher eligibility, then the eligibility will follow the eligibility of the host university.

 

DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Recommendations from faculty signed by Dean or Vice Dean
  • Legalized Final transcripts (GPA min. 3.2)
  • IRS for the last semester at UI before departing exchange
  • English Proficiency Certificate
    • PBT at least 550
    • ITP  at least 550
    • iBT at least 80
    • IELTS at least 6.0
  • CV
  • Motivation Letter

All documents have to be merged in 1 (ONE) pdf format file in the order listed above. Send the documents to outbound@ui.ac.id at the latest on 26th October 2020.

*Note: Students who have participated/enrolled in any program from International Office UI are NOT eligible
