Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI) through the Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Food and Nutrition (SEAMEO RECFON) and Continuning Medical Education-Continuing Professional Development (CME-CPD) FKUI held a guest lecture on Wednesday (30/9) at Azrul Anwar room, Department of Community Medicine Faculty of Medicine, Jakarta. This time, the invited guest lecturer was Prof. Tony Worsley, a nutrition expert from the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Deakin University, Australia, who shared knowledge and experience regarding health promotion programs, particularly the promotion of nutrition and lifestyle on the citizens of Australia in a lecture with the theme “Nutrition and Physical Activity – lessons from Australia”.
In his presentation, Prof. Tony Worsley said that a healthy and active lifestyle can be realized by growing the behavior of people who choose a healthy diet. A good or bad condition of public health can be used to start by choosing the best foods as an effort to maintain the condition. Another aspect to be considered is the physical activity in daily life. Society needs to be motivated and directed towards the non-sedentary daily life activities, which maintain cardiac function, respiratory and muscle function in order to stay fit.
This guest lecture is expected to exchange knowledge, especially for the development of health promotion in Indonesia and understanding of the importance of nutrition and physical activity in daily life.
