Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia held the 5th International Nursing Conference on Wednesday-Friday, 16-18 September 2015 at the Mercure Hotel, Jl. Pantai Indah Ancol, Jakarta Baycity, North Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 5th International Nursing Conference is a workshop that aims to improve the readiness of health workers, especially nurses in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) or the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will be started by the end of this year. This workshop is expected to determine the direction of policy in the field of health care and education that can be applied in the era of AEC. Target participants of this event are students, health practitioners, researchers, nurses, and public.
The keynote speakers on the first day were the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D., Ak who delivered the topic “AEC (ASEAN Economic Community).” This event was followed by a panel discussion with several speakers, there were: Prof. Wipada Kunaviktikul, Ph.D. (Chiang Mai University, Thailand) with the topic “Core Competencies Nurses towards the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC),” Chow Yeow Leng, Ph.D. (National University of Singapore) with a topic “Inter Professional Education,” and Prof. Huang, Mei-Chih (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan) with the topic “Credentialing Program for Career Pathways.”
For the second day, Prof. Ratna Sitorus was the keynote speaker who delivered the material on “Therapy as An Unique Nursing Intervention of a Professional Nurse.” Like the first day, the event continued with a panel discussion with several speakers after the material from keynote speaker, they are: Prof. Cora Anonuevo, (University of Philippines) on the topic “Preparation Nurses to Work Globally: Philippines Experiences,” President BPJS, Dr. dr. Fachmi Idris., Kes with the topic “Social and Economy Impacts on Healthcare in Indonesia,” Dr. Salma Burton (WHO Representative of Indonesia) with the theme of “Collaborative Practice for Professional Health Care,” and Prof. Dr. dr. Akmal Taher, Sp.U (K) on the topic “Government Health Care Policy for the ASEAN Economic Community.”
The third day was parallel workshops activities with several topics, such as Nursing Curriculum Standards, Teaching Hospital Standards, Nurse Licensure Examination and Working Permit Policy in ASEAN Countries, and Inter-professional Education for Collaborative Practice in Health Care. In addition to workshops and panel discussions, the activities at The 5th International Nursing Conference were also including oral and poster presentation. Jakarta government also participated in this event as a sponsor for the Gala Dinner activities, which held at Jakarta City Hall on September 16, 2015.
