
Universitas Indonesia (UI) recently hosted a courtesy visit from the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) to discuss the latest network updates, ongoing thematic initiatives, and upcoming strategic global meetings.

During the session, APRU representatives delivered a presentation on the network’s latest developments. A key highlight was the announcement of two new institutions joining the association in 2026: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (Brunei) and VinUniversity (Vietnam). The delegation also introduced a wide array of ongoing APRU activities, emphasizing collaborative efforts in fields such as Indigenous and First Nations Knowledges, Asia Pacific Women in Leadership, Global Health, Multi-Hazards, and Sustainable Cities & Landscapes.
The discussion then shifted to coordinate upcoming global engagements. Both parties confirmed the attendance of UI’s leadership at the highly anticipated APRU Annual Presidents’ Meeting and the APRU Senior International Leaders’ Meeting. These two major events are scheduled to be held back-to-back this June in Hong Kong.
Concluding the meeting on a high note, APRU made an informal announcement revealing that Universitas Indonesia has been selected to host the prestigious APRU Undergraduate Leaders’ Program in 2027. This upcoming hosting opportunity underscores UI’s active role and growing influence within the Asia-Pacific higher education community.
