Universitas Indonesia (UI) recently welcomed a strategic visit from Asia University, Japan, to strengthen their bilateral academic collaboration. The dialogue focused on reactivating comprehensive student exchange initiatives, advancing customized short-term mobility programs, and exploring strategic scholarship pathways specifically designed for students proficient in the Japanese language.

Moving beyond standard exchange frameworks, the partnership will aggressively pursue specialized, language-driven mobility. Asia University highlighted distinct scholarship opportunities for ASEAN high school and vocational graduates with JLPT N3-N4 proficiency, alongside tuition exemptions for regular undergraduate students achieving JLPT N2-N1. These pathways present a strategic advantage for students from UI’s Japanese Studies Program, who are highly positioned to meet these criteria. Furthermore, Asia University introduced its flagship “Asia University Japan Program,” an immersive two-week summer or winter course. This highly customizable program designed for groups of 5 to 16 participant blends intensive Japanese language classes with rich cultural activities across Tokyo, concluding with an engaging visit to Tokyo Disneyland. The comprehensive package covers tuition, insurance, and flexible accommodation options ranging from homestays and dormitories to shared houses and hotels.
The meeting concluded with a clear and structured action plan for immediate implementation. During the discussion, UI detailed its dedicated inbound and outbound mobility team structures to streamline and optimize future communication. In the interim, Asia University will finalize and dispatch the latest registration forms and official program explainer documents. UI will then actively disseminate this critical information, alongside details for upcoming semester programs, directly to relevant PICs to ensure targeted outreach to students within the Japanese Studies Program. Both institutions reaffirmed their strong, mutual commitment to successfully reactivating and expanding their dynamic student exchange and short-term mobility initiatives.
