During the meeting, DUT expressed a strong interest in forging a strategic partnership with UI, particularly in academic and research domains. The initial focus of this collaboration will encompass student and youth exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and the potential development of double or joint degree programs. DUT also took the opportunity to introduce its Panjin Campus, highlighting its flagship disciplines, which include Chemical Engineering, Ocean Sciences, Life Sciences, Smart Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Marine Engineering.
A major highlight of the discussion was DUT’s invitation for UI to participate in the 2026 International Summer Program “Intelligent Futures,” scheduled for 27 July to 9 August 2026. To support this, DUT generously offered a fully-funded quota for five UI students and one accompanying faculty member. Beyond the summer program, both institutions identified a broad spectrum of collaboration opportunities, including staff and visiting student programs, internships, joint lectures, workshops, and conferences.
UI responded enthusiastically to the proposed initiatives. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) affirmed its readiness to collaborate in the fields of Chemistry and Biological Sciences, while the Faculty of Engineering (FT) highlighted substantial potential for partnerships in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.
The proposed academic and research collaborations garnered full support from the Embassy of China, emphasizing the bilateral value of this partnership. Moving forward, DUT will coordinate with the Panjin City Government to secure institutional and financial backing before submitting a draft framework agreement. Simultaneously, the UI Directorate for Internationalization of Education (DIP) will prepare the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Implementation Agreement (IA) templates to facilitate the formalization process.
To ensure actionable outcomes, both FMIPA and FT UI will promptly identify and map the relevant counterpart departments for DUT. Additionally, UI is actively considering the selection process for the 2026 summer program. All further communications and technical implementations will be seamlessly coordinated through DIP UI and the DUTPJ International Office.
