
Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted a delegation from Xiuzhong College, Tsinghua University, to discuss potential academic collaboration and student mobility initiatives. The meeting marked an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in areas aligned with global sustainability and future-oriented education.

During the meeting, Xiuzhong College shared that the name “Xiuzhong” originates from the lyrics of Tsinghua University’s anthem, reflecting the institution’s strong cultural and academic identity. The delegation expressed its interest in exploring opportunities to send Xiuzhong College students to Indonesia, particularly to Universitas Indonesia.
Xiuzhong College emphasized the importance of equipping students with skills relevant to future global challenges. Its academic focus spans several strategic areas, including Digital Earth, climate change, strategic resources, new energy, ecological environment, green economy, smart cities, future space, and global governance.
Xiuzhong College also introduced its Global Green Governance Talent Program, designed to nurture talents who can contribute to sustainable development at the global level. The program includes:
International internship programs with a minimum duration of six weeks
Three-month study abroad programs
High-level interviews with renowned experts
Participation in the organization of Model United Nations conferences
Direct observation of international conferences
The Faculty of Engineering (FT) of Universitas Indonesia highlighted its strength in energy systems, which aligns closely with Xiuzhong College’s strategic focus. FT expressed openness to various forms of collaboration, particularly student and faculty exchange programs, as well as joint initiatives such as collaborative research and publications, joint grant applications, technology transfer, and research sabbatical programs.
FT also noted that it currently maintains cooperation with Tsinghua University, including a 2026 summer course program at the School of Environment and research collaboration in Environmental Engineering.
Meanwhile, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) conveyed its openness to collaboration through single degree and double degree programs. The Graduate School of Sustainable Development (SPPB) emphasized its strong interest in welcoming students and faculty members to engage in learning and collaborative research related to social and community issues, particularly those connected to sustainability.
Both institutions agreed on the importance of follow-up discussions through designated contact persons to further explore and define concrete forms of collaboration. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing academic partnerships that address global challenges and foster sustainable development.
