Universitas Indonesia (UI) participated in the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Summit 2026, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 1 to 3 June 2026. The event, hosted by Nazarbayev University, was attended by delegates from 15 AUA member universities across Asia. UI was represented by the Chief of the Risk Management and Compliance Board, Prof. Rizal Edy Halim, and the Director of Internationalization of Education, Dr. Fadhilah Muslim. UI’s participation in this prestigious forum reflects the institution’s commitment to strengthening its international cooperation network across the Asian region.
The AUA Summit 2026 comprised a series of activities, including the Working Group Meeting, AUA Board Meeting, and AUA Presidents’ Forum 2026. At the Board Meeting held on 2 June 2026, the main agenda included a review of AUA programs for the 2023–2026 period, the handover of the AUA Presidency and Executive Presidency, and discussions on the AUA framework for the 2026–2029 period. The AUA Presidents’ Forum 2026 was held under the theme “Shaping Future Universities: Industry Engagement and Governance Innovation,” with discussions centered on two strategic issues: the transformation of university governance models and the strengthening of university–industry collaboration in higher education.
As one of AUA’s founding members since 2017 and its sole Indonesian member, UI continues to play an active role in advancing higher education across Asia. Participation in the AUA Summit 2026 served as a strategic opportunity for UI to contribute to the formulation of regional higher education policy directions, deepen partnerships with leading Asian universities, and adopt best practices in institutional governance and innovation. UI reaffirms its commitment to remaining an active contributor to AUA’s collaborative agenda in realizing a globally competitive Asian higher education landscape.
