Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed representatives from Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU), Japan, to discuss opportunities for strengthening academic cooperation, student mobility, and joint educational initiatives. The meeting highlighted shared interests in the humanities, international studies, and global learning opportunities.
The KGU delegation consisted of Nanako Doi, Coordinator at the Center for International Education and Collaboration, and Masahiro Hagusa, Interpreter and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
UI’s delegation was represented by Dr. Muthia Pramesti, S.E., M.M., Assistant Director for International Education Program Development and Partnership; and Yunitha Fajarwati, S.Hum, Section Head for International Education Partnership.
KGU offers a wide range of international study opportunities for students from partner universities, including:
1. Double Degree Programs
Available in selected schools at KGU, providing students the opportunity to earn degrees from both UI and KGU.
2. Student Exchange Programs
Students may choose between two academic tracks:
Japanese Language Track, designed for students focusing on Japanese language acquisition
Modern Japan Track, offering courses on Japanese culture and society
3. Short-Term Programs
Intensive Japanese Language School
KGU Summer School (mid-July to early August, 3 weeks)
KGU Winter School (February, 3 weeks)
Program participation fee: 22,000 JPY
KGU provides students with dormitory accommodations or homestay arrangements, offering diverse cultural immersion experiences.
KGU’s School of Humanities closely aligns with UI’s Faculty of Humanities (FIB), creating strong potential for academic collaboration. The School of International Studies, which offers many courses in English, is another promising area for partnership.
UI will extend an official invitation to Sasjep FIB to further develop collaboration with KGU.
Due to limited seats in English-taught classes at KGU, UI students with Japanese language proficiency will have increased opportunities for participation in academic programs.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation through student mobility, academic exchange, and strengthened institutional ties between Universitas Indonesia and Kwansei Gakuin University.
