The Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) aspires to be a leading institution in education, research, community service, and public engagement in the field of cultural sciences, with strong international recognition.

FIB UI is committed to research-based education and public service. The faculty continually enhances the quality and quantity of academic research, encouraging publication of research findings in textbooks, academic books, and nationally or internationally accredited journals. It aims to cultivate graduates who are ethically grounded, culturally informed, and academically competent in cultural disciplines. The faculty also fosters national and international partnerships to strengthen academic quality, human resources, facilities, and community outreach. Additionally, it promotes Indonesian Studies as a core focus across various disciplines connected to cultural sciences.

Doctoral's in Archaeology

The doctoral program in Archaeology aims to advance the study of archaeology by integrating teaching and research to promote cultural and humanitarian progress. It focuses on developing students’ potential through education, research, and social engagement, while providing archaeological insights and solutions to cultural and humanitarian challenges at both local and global levels. Graduates are expected to be adaptable, responsible, ethical, and active contributors to the creation of a dignified and culturally rich digital society.

The program is committed to delivering education that produces graduates capable of advancing archaeological knowledge through innovative and validated research. It also aims to generate interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research that addresses cultural and humanitarian issues, supporting the development of a digital society and achieving recognition both locally and internationally in the field.

Doctoral's in History

The program aims to become a leading center for education and research in history at the national, regional, and international levels. Its mission is to prepare students to become highly skilled historians with strong theoretical and applied thinking abilities, develop and produce scholarly works in history, and disseminate them for the advancement of knowledge and human welfare. Additionally, it seeks to contribute thoughtful insights to both governmental and non-governmental institutions to raise historical awareness within society.

The program’s goals include producing competitive historians proficient in both theory and practice, graduates who can create and share historical knowledge to benefit science and societal well-being, and individuals who actively contribute ideas to support government policy-making and enhance public historical consciousness.

Doctoral's in Philosophy

The vision of the philosophy education program centers on a unified perspective about humans and their life challenges, which has been the core focus of philosophical inquiry since its inception. By engaging with contemporary issues in science and humanity, the program reaffirms the importance of a comprehensive worldview encompassing humanity, nature, and culture. This holistic perspective serves as the program’s guiding vision.

The mission is to cultivate scholars, researchers, and thinkers capable of thoroughly understanding scientific and societal issues, values, ethics, and the construction of contemporary society to advance humanity and enlighten thought. This mission emphasizes a unified approach characterized by methodological comprehensiveness, analytical clarity, and ethical sensitivity. The program aims to provide education, research, and community service through collaboration with national and international partners, ultimately producing doctoral graduates with critical thinking skills, systematic and comprehensive philosophical knowledge, aesthetic sensitivity, and ethical responsibility, equipped to address social and cultural problems at both local and global levels.

Doctoral's in Linguistics

The program’s mission is to provide doctoral education that produces graduates capable of adapting to change, analyzing problems, and applying their knowledge to develop solutions for society while demonstrating responsibility, sensitivity, and creativity. It emphasizes conducting independent and collaborative basic and applied research across interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches rooted in cultural contexts. The program also commits to delivering high-quality education and research aligned with contemporary challenges, fostering partnerships at various levels, and developing outstanding human resources capable of advancing the field of linguistics. The goals include producing superior research that contributes to the development of linguistic science and the resolution of cultural and humanitarian issues, graduating linguistics doctors who apply their knowledge responsibly and creatively, and creating community service outputs that positively impact society.

The vision of the doctoral program is to become a leading center for advanced studies in literature, cultural studies, philology, and oral tradition based on expertise in Nusantara, Indonesian, and global literary and cultural fields. This is achieved through interdisciplinary scholarly interactions at national and international levels.

The mission focuses on enhancing academic quality in literature, specializing in literature, cultural studies, philology, and oral tradition, to produce experts who can apply, disseminate, and develop their knowledge. It also aims to foster a research environment that generates critical ideas and solutions regarding literary and cultural phenomena, valuing diversity and understanding the complexity of issues in a global context. The program’s goals include producing experts capable of advancing knowledge through interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research, creating original and tested works that address literary and cultural problems in social, political, and environmental contexts with national and international recognition, and generating critical scholarly ideas that respect diversity and the complexity of global challenges.

Doctoral's in Information Studies

This is Indonesia’s first doctoral program in information science, housed within the oldest Department of Library and Information Science, established in 1952. Since 2020, the program has been globally affiliated with the iSchool Association (Information Science Schools). It welcomes students from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to explore various aspects related to information. The program emphasizes developing skills in analysis, innovation, and leadership that are service-oriented, responsible, transparent, and accountable in the digital era.

The faculty includes certified INTERPARES experts with extensive experience in relevant fields, ensuring high-quality teaching and research guidance
