Faculty of Public Health (Bachelor’s Program)

The Bachelor’s Programs at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia (FKM UI) are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to address public health challenges at local, national, and global levels. With a strong focus on evidence-based practice, ethics, and community engagement, FKM UI prepares graduates to make a real impact in improving health outcomes.

Bachelor's in Public Health

The Bachelor of Public Health program at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, is the oldest public health faculty in the country that prepares students to identify and solve public health issues, implement interventions, and commit to lifelong learning.

Students are trained in public health analysis, program planning, policy development, effective communication, financial management, cultural competency, community empowerment, and leadership with a systems-thinking approach.

The program offers seven areas of specialization:

  • Health Policy and Administration
  • Biostatistics
  • Epidemiology
  • Reproductive Health
  • Health Insurance Management
  • Health Information Management
  • Health Promotion

Bachelor's in Nutrition Study Program

Indonesia is currently facing a double burden of nutrition problems: undernutrition and infections remain issues, while overnutrition and non-communicable diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension are rapidly rising. Micronutrient deficiencies, such as iron deficiency anemia, also persist. These challenges especially impact nutrition during the First 1000 Days of Life, a critical window that affects future generations’ health.

To manage this, adolescents must have strong nutrition and health literacy. However, many teens are misled by unscientific product promotions and social media influencers, leading to poor dietary choices. Building awareness and improving nutrition from adolescence is crucial to enhancing Indonesia’s human resources and Human Development Index.

To address these needs, the Department of Public Health Nutrition at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, launched the Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program in 2008. The program equips graduates with strong foundations in nutrition science, dietetics, public health nutrition, and food service management, with a focus on the First 1000 Days of Life, preparing them to design, implement, and evaluate nutrition programs in communities and institutions.

Bachelor's in Environmental Health

The Bachelor of Environmental Health program at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, grew out of the Environmental Health major within the original Public Health undergraduate program. To address increasingly complex environmental health challenges, it was established as a separate program through UI Rector’s Decree No. 1942/SK/R/UI/2013 and began admitting students in the 2014/2015 academic year.

The curriculum was developed with input from government policies, professional organizations (like EHSA and HAKLI), universities abroad, and key stakeholders, including students, lecturers, alumni, and employers. It equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle environmental health issues in Indonesia and beyond.

Bachelor's in Occupational Health and Safety

The Bachelor’s degree program in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, is the first in Indonesia. This study program is a development of the OHS major in the Bachelor’s degree program in Public Health to meet the demand of graduate users and produce OHS graduates with more specific OHS competencies. The study program curriculum is designed with reference to various elements: government policies and professional organizations in the field of OHS (oil and gas, mining, construction, manufacturing sectors, and so on), relevant curriculum from reputable universities overseas since there have not been the same study program in Indonesia yet, the vision and mission of the university and faculty, as well as other stakeholders such as students, lecturers, alumni, and users. The first batch of students for the study program was enrolled in 2015.
