Fasilkom UI offers a range of master’s degree programs designed to meet the growing demands of academia, industry, and government in the fields of Computer Science and Information Technology. These programs combine advanced academic coursework with practical and research-oriented learning to produce highly qualified professionals and researchers.

The Master of Science in Computer Science (MIK) program, established in 1988, is tailored for graduates who wish to deepen their expertise and engage in research within core areas of computer science. Classes are held on the Depok campus during morning and afternoon sessions, and students are encouraged to participate actively in faculty-led research projects aligned with their interests.

In response to the rapid evolution of technology in business and industry, Fasilkom UI also offers a Master in Information Technology (MTI) program. This professionally oriented degree equips graduates with the technical and managerial skills needed to design, implement, and oversee IT systems in modern organizations.

Additionally, the e-Government MTI Program, conducted in collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), is a scholarship-based initiative aimed at developing high-quality government personnel capable of leading digital transformation and managing e-Government systems at both central and regional levels.

These master’s programs reflect Fasilkom UI’s commitment to excellence in higher education, research, and capacity building in the digital era.

Master's in Computer Science

Master of Science study program Computers (MIK) opened in 1988 was designed to produce graduates with research insights in computer science as a continuation of the Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Lectures for the MIK study program are held in the morning and afternoon at the Fasilkom UI Depok campus. The MIK study program emphasizes the integration between postgraduate education and research activities. Students are expected to be actively involved in research at the UI Faculty of Computer Science. The MIK study program curriculum is structured in such a way that students get the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge and research experience in the field of Computer Science. Choices of courses are provided so that students can arrange their educational programs according to their research interests.

Master's in Information Technology

In the last decade the field of Information Technology (IT) has developed very rapidly. The role of IT is the lifeblood of a modern organization in conducting operations and business management. In particular, this tendency creates a need for human resources to build and manage IT. The Information Technology Masters Program (SK DIKTI No.2006/D/T/2005 dated 24 June 2005) under the auspices of the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia (Fasilkom UI), is designed to fill the gaps in the needs of the industrial and business world for professionals, with expertise in IT.

The characteristics of the Information Technology Masters Program (MTI) include:

  • Emphasis on strong integration capabilities between IT applications and in-depth knowledge of management and organizational strategy.
  • The development of various characteristics of expertise in the IT field requires more in-depth study related to various business and industrial sectors.

The competencies and abilities that are the targets of the MTI-Fasilkom UI program are:

  1. Digest of knowledge and expertise in the field of IT.
  2. IT integration in business/organizational functions and foundations as well as career support.
  3. Communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills in the business/organizational sphere.

To support the research process, the MTI program is supported by Labs with Information Technology – based studies, namely the E-Government & E-Business Lab and the Information Management Lab.

Master's in Information Technology (E-government)

The e-Government Information Technology Masters Program (MTI) is an Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics Scholarship Program, which is implemented with the aim of creating superior government apparatus human resources in e-Government development within Central and Regional government agencies in accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 3 of 2003 concerning National Policy and Strategy for e-Government Development. The target of this program is the availability of human resources managing e-Government within Central and Regional Government agencies. The Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia, collaborates with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics in organizing the Kominfo Domestic Scholarship Program.
