APRU Multi-Hazards Summer School 2025

Program Duration: 29 July – 1 August 2025
Venue: International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan

Call for application for short-course program at APRU Multi-Hazards Summer School 2025! Open for graduate students who have never participated in an international mobility program.

Eligiblity

FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS

An active UI Student
Min. 2nd semester (master's) at the time of application
Must not graduate from UI until the program is completed
Have a strong academic performance
Have a strong competence in English proficiency
Must purchase international health insurance that meets visa and partner university requirements

Must have a valid passport at the time of application.
Students who have participated or are currently enrolled in an international mobility program are not eligible
Must not be currently applying for or accepting any international mobility program at the time of application.
Must comply with faculty-specific rules and regulations (if any)

Document Requirements

Faculty Recommendation Letter (signed by the Dean or Vice Dean), must state:

The faculty supports and acknowledges the offline outbound international mobility program.
The student will not graduate from UI until the international mobility program is completed.

CV & Motivation letter

A Valid English Proficiency CertificateTOEFL IBT or ITP / IELTS / Duolingo

About the Programs:

Day 1: July 29
-Opening
-Session 1: Lessons learnt from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
Day 2: July 30
-Session 2: Experience and case studies by various stakeholders
-Session 3: Group activity: learning from various DRR researches

Day 3: July 31
-Session 4: Applying big data and AI in DRR
-Session 5: Group activity
Day 4: August 1
-Field trip to the affected site

Travel Costs

No registration fee is required for this summer school. No funding support is available from the event organizer.
