The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI) was founded in 1968 and is one of the faculties with the most significant number of study programs and students at the University of Indonesia. Until the end of 2014, FISIP UI had 34 study programs, with 227 lecturers and 6,230 students (even semester 2014/2015) members of eight departments.

The Faculty is led by a Dean who is assisted by Deputy Deans who organize and manage Academic and Non-Academic Affairs. The Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit, the Data and Accreditation Office and the Head of Leadership Secretariat Unit administers the Dean. There is a staff who organizes and manages: staff assistance, internationalization, institutional coordination, development of information and communication technology, and cooperation with outside agencies. In addition, in formulating policy designs in research, publication, and venture management, the Dean is assisted by managers who implement faculty policies assisted by their staff.

Bachelor's in Communication Science

The Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP Ul) was established on December 12, 1959. Initially, it was called the Department of Publicity which was under the auspices of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. Along with the development of the establishment of the Faculty of Social Sciences which was a split from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, the Department of Publicity was transferred to the Faculty of Social Sciences and its name was changed to the Department of Mass Communication.

Bachelor's in Political Science

Two competencies aim to be developed in the Department of Political Science Undergraduate Program’s Curriculum. First, basic skills in the form of conceptual and theoretical analysis, mastery of methods, methods of research, and political commentary, as well as comparative and historical skills and knowledge. The second is practical skills, including writing, presentation, and debate skills. In addition, the Department of Political Science will direct students into two (2) specializations: Politics and Democratization in Indonesia and Comparative Politics. Political Science graduates from the Faculty of Social and Political Science generally can work in government (central and regional), legislative institutions, the TNI, or national and international community organizations.

Bachelor's in Criminology

The Department of Criminology FSPS-UI has the vision to realize the Department of Criminology as a provider of education, teaching, and community service in research-based criminology to answer national and international crime problems. Therefore, one of the objectives of the undergraduate education program of the Department of Criminology is to produce graduates who master the scientific foundations, knowledge, and methodology of criminology so that they can formulate alternative policies for preventing and overcoming crime as a social problem.

Bachelor's in Sociology

The Department of Sociology, FISIP-UI is a scientific community with integrity, always upholds honesty in achieving superior academic achievements, and cares for humanity without distinguishing between individuals and groups. Educational programs at the Department of Sociology provide students with expertise in planning and managing social development programs, solving social problems, and participating in social activities. Graduates of the Sociology Department undergraduate program are also expected to be able to carry out and develop education, research, and community service by having social, creative, and critical sensitivity. Sociology graduates can work in research institutions, NGOs, mass media, and government agencies.

Bachelor's in Social Welfare Sciences

The Department of Social Welfare Sciences undergraduate program aims to produce graduates with essential knowledge and skills to reduce social injustice and inequality, as well as manage social problems through the development of preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and developmental programs. Department of Social Welfare will direct students to three (3) areas of specialization: specialization in social development and regional autonomy, the field in program planning and evaluation, and discipline in community development, poverty, and corporate social responsibility.

The curriculum for the undergraduate program in Social Welfare includes Social Development Fundamentals, Service Organization Management, Disaster Management Management, and Social Welfare Philosophy and Ethics. Graduates of Social Welfare Sciences are generally needed in central and local government institutions, especially those in charge of social affairs, non-governmental organizations, or companies with social activity units.

Bachelor's in Anthropology

Anthropology is the study of the culture of a particular ethnic group. The Anthropology Department of FSPS UI aims to produce graduates capable of critical thinking, appreciate diversity and socio-cultural dynamics in local, national, and global contexts, and possess the ability to conduct anthropological research to describe the reality of diversity and socio-cultural life. In addition to government agencies, anthropologists are also needed in research institutions or foreign companies that have work areas in Indonesia.

Bachelor's in International Relations

International Relations Science FISIP UI aims to produce graduates who can understand, explain and analyze various phenomena of international relations, and can play an active role in various professional fields that are relevant in this field, both in the government sector, research, education, and other sectors, national level as well as international.

The curriculum includes Foreign Policy Diplomacy and Analysis, International Political Economy Theory, Transnational Security Issues, and Indonesian Foreign Policy. Many graduates of this study program have careers as diplomats or work in international organizations.
