The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Indonesia (FKG UI) offers two distinguished master’s programs aimed at advancing dental science and public health: the Master of Community Dentistry and the Master of Basic Dental Science. These programs are designed to develop professionals equipped with advanced knowledge, research capabilities, and a commitment to improving oral health at both individual and community levels.
Community Dentistry (Ilmu Kedokteran Gigi Komunitas – IKGKom) is a branch of dental science that focuses on the knowledge and art of preventing and controlling dental diseases, while also promoting oral health by empowering individuals, families, and communities. The program has been accredited with an “A” rating by LAM-PTKes (2018), reflecting its academic excellence.
Graduates of the Master’s Program in Community Dentistry are expected to be capable of developing and implementing health service management policies aimed at addressing oral health issues at individual, family, and community levels. Their approach should emphasize health promotion, disease prevention, and community development, all supported by research that meets national or international standards.
Upon completion, graduates earn the degree of Magister Kesehatan (M.Kes).
The Master’s Program in Basic Dental Science is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to advance the field of dental science and technology. The program focuses on the development, evaluation, and application of innovations in three key areas: Oral Biology, Dental Materials Science, and Forensic Odontology. Students are encouraged to produce research that is both innovative and practically applicable in real-world settings.
