The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI) was founded in 1968 and is one of the faculties with the most significant number of study programs and students at the University of Indonesia. Until the end of 2014, FISIP UI had 34 study programs, with 227 lecturers and 6,230 students (even semester 2014/2015) members of eight departments.

The Faculty is led by a Dean who is assisted by Deputy Deans who organize and manage Academic and Non-Academic Affairs. The Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit, the Data and Accreditation Office and the Head of Leadership Secretariat Unit administers the Dean. There is a staff who organizes and manages: staff assistance, internationalization, institutional coordination, development of information and communication technology, and cooperation with outside agencies. In addition, in formulating policy designs in research, publication, and venture management, the Dean is assisted by managers who implement faculty policies assisted by their staff.

Doctoral's in Communication Science

The aims of the Communication Studies Doctoral Programme are:

  • To contribute to developing communication sciences through education and/or research in various higher education institutions and research institutes.
  • To contribute to developing communication sciences through education and/or research in various higher education institutions and research institutes.
  • To publish internationally accredited papers and research in various international journals.

Doctoral's in Political Science

The objective of the Political Science Doctoral Program:

  • To produce a Doctor of Political Science with a high competence who can use the knowledge and skills in his expertise field to solve complex nation/state problems, including those requiring a cross-disciplinary approach, and compete in the international world.
  • Produce graduates with the knowledge and primary abilities of the science and technical skills needed to adapt and/or create new methodologies.
  • Produce graduates who master theories, concepts, and paradigms with their expertise so that they can be open and responsive to the development of science, culture, technology, and problems in society.
  • Produce graduates who can communicate their thoughts and work with groups of experts in their field and a wider audience.

Doctoral's in Criminology

Objective:

  1. To organize beneficial education of high quality for the community at the local, national and global levels.;
  2. Produce scientific works that are beneficial for the development of science and the welfare of society;
  3. Organize community services that pay attention to the community’s needs at the local and national levels.
  4. To create a conducive work climate to develop scientific works and improve the quality of the teaching and learning processes.

Doctoral's in Sociology

The objective of the Sociology Doctoral Program:

  • To prepare students to become members of the community who have honesty and care and have excellent academic and professional abilities in the field of sociology, able to compete nationally and internationally.
  • To find, create, and develop sociological knowledge based on research rooted in Indonesian society.
  • To find, create, and develop social planning and policy innovations to produce social development.

Doctoral's in Social Welfare Sciences

Objective:

  1. To organize beneficial education of high quality for the community at the local, national and global levels.
  2. To produce scientific works that are beneficial for science development and society’s welfare.
  3. Organize community services that pay attention to the community’s needs at the local and national levels.
  4. To create a conducive work climate to develop scientific works and improve the quality of the teaching and learning processes.

Doctoral's in Anthropology

Aims of the Doctoral (S3) Programme of Anthropology:

  • To produce graduates with a critical perception and appreciation of the diversity and dynamics of sociocultural life in local, national, and global contexts.
  • To produce graduates capable of independent, collaborative, intradisciplinary, and interdisciplinary anthropological research. We aim to describe and analyze the circumstances and facts surrounding the diversity and dynamics of sociocultural life.
  • To produce graduates capable of creating and developing theories and methodologies on anthropological research in particular and the social sciences and humanities in general.
