The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI) was founded in 1968 and is one of the faculties with the most significant number of study programs and students at the University of Indonesia. Until the end of 2014, FISIP UI had 34 study programs, with 227 lecturers and 6,230 students (even semester 2014/2015) members of eight departments.
The Faculty is led by a Dean who is assisted by Deputy Deans who organize and manage Academic and Non-Academic Affairs. The Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit, the Data and Accreditation Office and the Head of Leadership Secretariat Unit administers the Dean. There is a staff who organizes and manages: staff assistance, internationalization, institutional coordination, development of information and communication technology, and cooperation with outside agencies. In addition, in formulating policy designs in research, publication, and venture management, the Dean is assisted by managers who implement faculty policies assisted by their staff.
The Communication Sciences Master Programme was established in 1982. It was founded as a specialization of the Social Sciences Master Programme. 1994 saw the discipline of programs: a specialized Master of Communication Management was established, one of a more practical nature and focused on management in the media and informational industries
Courses are conducted in the Salemba Campus, specifically in the IASTH Building, 6th floor (behind the former Rectorate).
To complete this program, students must complete courses and a thesis amounting to 45 credits (SKS).
The Communication Sciences Master Programme comprises two specializations, namely:

The Sociology Master Program produces graduates who are independent in developing critical thinking skills, skilled in communication, and have high social awareness; those with a comprehensive sociological perspective with superior research methodological abilities. The Sociology Master program offers courses to prepare graduates to design social development and solve social problems to be more applicable. The Program produces sociologists who can develop an understanding, analysis, and theory about the development of Indonesian society in particular and its relationship with other communities; they have graduated as specialists in social policy planning for Indonesian culture.
