Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a representative from the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), to discuss opportunities for expanding academic cooperation between the two prestigious institutions.
The delegation from SAIF was represented by Prof. Dr. Jie Hu, Professor of Practice at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

During the meeting, both parties expressed mutual interest in strengthening academic collaboration in several key areas, including student exchange programs, joint and double degree initiatives, short programs, guest lectures, and joint research activities.
Prof. Hu explained that SAIF operates as a graduate school specializing in finance, distinct from an undergraduate business school. He also shared that SAIF and UI’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UI) have previously discussed the possibility of establishing a fast-track collaboration program.
UI further expressed its plan to visit Shanghai Jiao Tong University to formalize cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Student Exchange Agreement at the university level.
In addition to finance-focused programs, both sides identified potential collaboration between UI’s Faculty of Medicine (FKUI) and SJTU’s School of Medicine, emphasizing interdisciplinary academic exchange.
As many SJTU students have shown interest in studying abroad, SAIF also conveyed its willingness to promote short course programs at Universitas Indonesia to other schools and institutes under SJTU.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to foster stronger academic partnerships that support global learning and research excellence between Universitas Indonesia and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
