UI-Fudan University Ready to Support Global South Development through Education and Research

Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Fudan University, Shanghai, have agreed to deepen cross-sector collaborations to bolster education, research, and innovation for the development of the Global South. During a courtesy visit held on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 at UI’s Apung Room, UI Central Library, Depok Campus, leaders from both institutions discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation through joint research initiatives in medicine, public health, environmental studies, and the establishment of double-degree programs in international relations and public policy.  

UI Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, highlighted the vital role of international university collaborations in fostering educational diplomacy and addressing global challenges through multidisciplinary approaches. 

Plans include a Memorandum of Understanding, student and faculty exchanges, clinical research partnerships, and annual international conferences to foster academic diplomacy and sustainable regional development. 

The meeting was attended by prominent delegations from both universities. The Fudan University delegation included Prof. ZHENG Yu, Prof. ZHANG Jianxin, Prof. YIN Zhiguang, Prof. CHEN Yingyao, and Dr. XUE Song, as well as Mr. WANG Nan, Chairman of Shanghai HuaGan UAV Technology Co., LTD. Representing UI were Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Hamdi Muluk, M.Si.; Director of Education Internationalization, Dr. Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC; Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc.; Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Prof. Dr. Semiarto Aji Purwanto; Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Bondan Kanumoyoso, M.Hum.; and Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Prof. Arie Afriansyah, S.H., M.I.L., Ph.D.
