UI Scholarship for Full Degree International Students

Get a funded opportunity to study in a culturally rich nation, one of Asia’s emerging economies, Indonesia. Universitas Indonesia offers scholarships for international students to take a master’s degree in a wide array of disciplines.

Eligibility

Please read the eligibility before you send the documents
  • Not applying or not be registered as students at any other university in Indonesia during the period of enrollment at Universitas Indonesia.
  • Have not previously studied in Indonesia on an Indonesia government-funded scholarship.
  • Should maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while studying at UI

Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition Fee Waiver for the master’s degree program, valid for up to a maximum of 4 semesters
  • Free student visa application, KITAS, and stay permit processing once; costs covered
  • Return economy class airfare reimbursement, up to a maximum of IDR 10.000.000(only once, maximum IDR 5,000,000 for each departure)
  • One-time settlement cost allowance of IDR 1,500,000
  • Health Insurance Allowance of up to IDR 400,000/month
  • Living Cost Allowance of IDR 3,500,000/month(including accommodation costs)
  • Tuition fee waiver for an Indonesian language preparation course at Universitas Indonesia. This benefit is available to applicants who do not meet the required Indonesian language proficiency but are applying for a master’s program taught in Indonesian (for up to a maximum of 2 semesters)

Notes:

Please be advised that the NEW UI GREAT is intended solely to support the recipient and does not include any provisions for dependents or family members in Indonesia. The scholarship does not offer financial or pastoral support for dependents and will not endorse visa applications or provide travel arrangements for them. Any expenses not explicitly covered by the scholarship will be the responsibility of the student.

Admission Guidelines:

1. Admission Registration Fee

NEW UI GREAT applicants are required to pay a USD 100 admission registration fee

2. Language Proficiency

  • All New UI GREAT 2025 Scholarship applicants must meet the English and/or Indonesian proficiency requirements, depending on their chosen major, study program, or faculty. (see details at www.ui.ac.id/master-program).
  • Applicants applying for a master’s program taught in English are required to meet the English proficiency requirements and are not required to attend the Indonesian language preparation class.
  • Applicants applying for a regular master’s program at UI who cannot meet the Indonesian Language proficiency requirements must attend a two-semester Indonesian language preparation course (BIPA 1 – Indonesian for Non-Native Speakers 1 and BIPA 2 – Indonesian for Non-Native Speakers 2) at UI, which will be covered by the scholarship received.
  • Applicants who pass BIPA 2 course are eligible to start their master’s degree studies at their chosen programmes for 4 (four) semesters.
  • Applicants who fail to pass BIPA 2 course after the language preparation class will be required to repay the scholarship funds received.

3. Mandatory for Applicants

NEW UI GREAT Scholarship applicants must submit the following:
  • A valid ID showing the applicant’s current residential address
  • NEW UI GREAT Letter of Statement
  • A short essay (250–500 words) outlining the applicant’s background, including leadership experience, personal or professional influence, networking skills, career planning, and reasons for pursuing further studies at Universitas Indonesia.
  • The names and contact details of two referees for your application, at least 1(one) academic referee (such as a professor, instructor, or academic advisor), and professional referee (such as a former manager, supervisor, or colleague who has directly worked with the applicant in a professional capacity).
  • Two reference letters from nominated referees in English (or with sworn translation).
  • A bachelor’s degree certificate and academic transcript (in English or Indonesian). These must be official documents from the applicant’s previous university verifying the degree and academic performance.
