Universitas Indonesia (UI) today hosted 40 students from various universities in Hong Kong for the “Hong Kong–Indonesia Academic Exchange 2025.” Held at the UI Library, this event aimed to bolster UI’s international network and showcase its academic and cultural profile to a global student audience.
Dr. Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, UI’s Director for Internationalization of Education, highlighted the crucial role of student involvement in educational diplomacy for fostering cross-cultural understanding and academic collaboration. The visit, initiated by the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, a Hong Kong non-profit dedicated to youth empowerment, provided participants with firsthand experience of UI’s campus life, Indonesia’s higher education system, and its rich cultural diversity.
Dionne Kung, Vice CEO of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, expressed gratitude to UI, emphasizing Indonesia’s significant role in ASEAN and hoping the program expands Hong Kong youth’s global perspectives. Sammy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong shared his enthusiasm for UI’s campus and vibrant culture.
This exchange underscores UI’s commitment to its role as a world-class university actively contributing to the international education network, fostering an inclusive and collaborative academic ecosystem in Asia and the Global South.
