Visit: UI Welcomes Delegation from Zimbabwe to Discuss Educational Collaboration and Scholarships

Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed an official delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe, led by Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Z.R. Churu, and Ambassador M. Makururu. The meeting, held at UI’s Administrative Center in Depok, was hosted by Dr. drg. Nia Ayu Ismaniati, MDSc., Sp.Ort(K), Head of UI’s Office of Cooperation and Entrepreneurship, along with other university representatives.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in human resource development, particularly by increasing scholarship opportunities and expanding the number of Zimbabwean students at UI. Currently, 21 Zimbabwean students are enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at UI, supported by scholarships such as UI Great, KNB (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang), and TIAS/LDKPI 2024.

Deputy Chief Secretary Churu expressed appreciation for UI’s academic environment and support, noting its positive impact on students’ adaptation and learning. He hoped the student quota would be expanded to support Zimbabwe’s goals in educational equity and human capital development.

Dr. Nia affirmed UI’s openness to international students who meet academic requirements. She stated that the request for more Zimbabwean students would be considered, and also highlighted opportunities for broader collaboration through staff mobility and joint research programs.
