Visit: Universitas Indonesia and City University of Hong Kong Explore Strategic Partnership in Research and Academic Collaboration

Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) to discuss opportunities for collaboration in research, academic exchange, and joint initiatives across multiple disciplines. The meeting marked a promising step toward strengthening institutional ties between one of Indonesia’s leading universities and one of Asia’s top higher education institutions.

During the meeting, CityU expressed strong interest in building long-term collaboration with Universitas Indonesia in both research and education. CityU, which comprises 10 colleges and schools with 8 departments, shared its achievements in academic excellence and legal education. The Faculty of Law at CityU has been a pioneer in legal education, training thousands of Chinese judges over the past 18 years and establishing itself as a leading legal institution in the region.

Both universities discussed potential areas for collaboration, including:

  • Joint Research Projects and co-publication of academic journals;

  • Faculty and Student Exchanges across multiple disciplines;

  • Participation in International Conferences, particularly the Asia Legal Institute’s International Conference in the coming year; and

  • Funding collaboration, with opportunities to utilize Indonesian and international research grant schemes such as LPDP and Ministry of Education RI programs.

UI also invited CityU to share a list of professors and their research areas to enable matchmaking between researchers from both universities, promoting synergy and mutual academic growth. CityU expressed enthusiasm for exploring scholarship and government-funded research opportunities to further strengthen collaborative initiatives.

The meeting concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to advancing academic excellence, research innovation, and cross-border partnerships between Indonesia and Hong Kong.
