Universitas Indonesia (UI) by the Directorate for Internationalization of Education UI hosted The 2026 Degree Appreciation Ceremony for UI International Students on Tuesday (21/7) at the Makara Art Center (MAC), UI Depok Campus. The ceremony celebrated the academic completion of 120 international students from 21 countries across 14 faculties and the Graduate School of Sustainable Development.
Around 80 international graduates attended the ceremony in person, representing a diverse cohort of scholars who completed full degree programs at Universitas Indonesia.
Among the graduating cohort, three international students achieved a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA of 4.00):
Delivering a speech on behalf of the graduates, Ramalina Ranaivo Mikea Manitra shared reflections on overcoming cultural adaptation and academic challenges, including rigorous thesis revisions.
“We know what it feels like to receive feedback, make revisions, and then make even more revisions. Every challenge helped us grow, making us the best version of ourselves today,” Manitra remarked.
In his opening address, Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Heri Hermansyah, praised the graduates’ dedication and emphasized UI’s commitment to advancing the internationalization of Indonesian higher education. He expressed confidence that the graduates would become leading professionals globally within the next 5 to 20 years.
“You will contribute to your community, your country, and the world. We hope our graduates carry home fond memories of Indonesia its warm hospitality, rich culture, and the lifelong friendships built during their studies,” said Prof. Heri Hermansyah.
Beyond recognizing student success, the event served as a strategic platform to expand international networks and bolster collaboration with global stakeholders.
