Program Outline
GYP is a program in which POSCO Group fosters the next generation of global leaders in Korea.
Students are given the opportunity to study in POSTECH for 1 year, participate in research, visit POSCO, and learn about startups and Korean culture. Students will also have an opportunity to communicate and create a network with other GYP students from various countries.
Requirements
- Second or third-year undergraduate student enrolled at & nominated by POSTECH’s partner university
- GPA average above 3.3/4.3
- Equivalent English proficiency certification scores of TOEFL iBT 90, IELTS 6.5 or above

- Official Academic Transcript in English
- Recommendation Letter from Home University
- Valid certification scores of English Proficiency (TOEFL iBT 90, IELTS 6.5 or above)
- Copy of Passport (scanned; the passport must be valid for at least six months from visa issuance)

- CV
- Motivation Letter
- Statement letter of willingness not to leave the country if the faculty does not give permission
- Written approval letter of departure from parents
Program Timeline
GYP is a year-long program that will operate from September 2023 until June 2024
Key program dates and timelines are as follows:
- Application Deadline (at UI): May 18
- Document Evaluation: May 31 – June 2
- Candidate Interview (in-person or online): June 7 – 14
- Admission Announcement: June 15
- Korean Language Course (online): July 1 – 31
- Arrival in Korea: August 21 – 25
* The dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances
Scholarship & Benefits (from POSCO)
- Full coverage of round-trip flights to/from Korea and visa-related fees
- Monthly scholarship (1,000,000 KRW/month)
- Participants who decide to drop out of the GYP before program completion may be required to return the scholarship
