PROGRAM OUTLINE
GYP is a program in which POSCO Group fosters the next generation of global leaders in Korea.
Students are given the opportunity to study in POSTECH for 1 year, participate in research, visit POSCO, and learn about startups and Korean culture. Students will also have an opportunity to communicate and create a network with other GYP students from various countries.
REQUIREMENTS
- Second or third-year undergraduate student enrolled at & nominated by POSTECH’s partner university.
- GPA average above 3.2
- Science and Technology related departments.
- English Proficiency Standard:
– TOEFL iBT min. 80
– IELTS min. 6.5
– Duolingo English Test min. 120

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO POSCO
- Statement of Purpose (download here)
- Official Academic Transcript in English
- Recommendation Letter from Home University (Will be provided by International Office UI)
- Valid certification scores of English Proficiency (TOEFL iBT, IELTS, Duolingo)
- Copy of Passport (scanned; the passport must be valid for at least six months from visa issuance)
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO IO
- A faculty recommendation letter signed by the Dean or Vice Dean with particular information needs to be included. Please read “NOTES” for detailed information about it.
- Latest course plan (IRS)
- CV
- Statement letter of willingness not to leave the country if the faculty does not give permission
- Written approval letter of departure from parents
PROGRAM TIMELINE
Key program dates and timelines are as follows:
- Application Deadline (at UI): April 18
- Document Evaluation: Early May
- Candidate Interview (in-person or online): May
- Admission Announcement: Early June

SCHOLARSHIP & BENEFITS (from POSCO)
- With the Global Young Leaders Program, students will get opportunities to take courses and participate in research at POSTECH,as well as to experience Korean Culture and Industry by Special Excursions & Programs
- All expenses for the students’ stay in POSTECH will be covered by scholarship from POSTECH & POSCO
- Round-Trip AirFare (Actual Expenses for Economy Class)
- Settlement Grants (500,000 KRW once)
- Living Expenses (1,000,000 KRW per month)
- Participants who decide to drop out of the GYP before program completion may be required to return the scholarship
